Chemo Caps

The Chemo Caps Ministry provides head coverings for patients who have lost their hair due to cancer or surgery.

We are extending an invitation to anyone who would like to crochet any hats at home or join us at our meeting. Yarn is available if you would like to help us.  For yarn you may call me at 410-255-8707 and you may drop off the completed head coverings at the church office or at our meeting.

Activities: Most of us know someone who has cancer and we feel that this ministry would be a way of helping them feel better about themselves and this also would be a way of showing them that others care about them and what they are going through.  The head coverings we make are crocheted caps, sewn turbans and hats, and a few of the ladies have made crocheted prayer or healing shawls.  We also teach each other different stitches or various techniques involved.  At the meetings, labels are attached to each item stating “Prayerfully Made Just For You” by the women of Emmanuel Lutheran  Church, 8615 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena Md.21122.  Then each item is enclosed in a plastic bag, making them ready for distribution to the various Cancer Centers in our area.

Volunteers: The Chemo Caps Team would welcome any assistance in the preparation and distribution of the chemo caps.  Training is available if required.  Come join us in Christian fellowship with an opportunity to serve others.

Meetings: Our meetings take place at the Church on the second Thursday morning of each month.  Each meeting lasts about two hours during which time we either crochet or cut out patterns for the turbans and hats that we usually sew at home.
